DRY NEEDLING
Dry needling is a modern therapeutic technique used to relieve muscle pain and improve movement. It involves inserting very thin, sterile needles into trigger points — tight bands of muscle fibers—to stimulate healing and reduce pain.
Trigger points, often called "knots", can develop in muscles due to injury, overuse, or poor posture. Inserting a needle into one of these points:
-
causes a localised response, which helps release the tension.
-
increases blood flow to the area.
-
helps restore normal muscle function and reduce inflammation
-
stimulates the body's natural pain-relief chemicals
Dry needling is widely used to treat a variety of musculoskeletal issues, including:
-
Chronic back or neck pain
-
Shoulder impingement
-
Tennis or golfer’s elbow
-
Sciatica
-
Hip and glute pain
-
Knee pain or patellar tendinopathy
-
Plantar fasciitis
-
Headaches or migraines linked to muscular tension
-
Sports injuries and overuse syndromes
Dry Needling has minimal intervention but a big impact including:
-
Reducing acute and chronic pain
-
Improving range of motion
-
Accelerating recovery after injury
-
Enhancing performance for athletes
Dry Needling complements other physiotherapy and rehabilitation techniques and can be used a part of 30, 60 or 90 minute session.
